This job description (JD) describes the core job duties of eeg technologist occupation:


1) Measures electrical activity of brain waves, using electroencephalograph Eeg instrument, and conducts evoked potential response tests for use in diagnosis of brain nervous system disorders.

2) Measures patients head other body parts, using tape measure and marks points where electrodes are to be placed.

3) Attaches electrodes to predetermined locations and verifies functioning of electrodes recording instrument.

4) Operates recording instruments Eeg and evoked potentials and supplemental equipment chooses settings for optimal viewing of nervous system.

5) Records montage electrode combination and instrument settings, and observes notes patients behavior during test.

6) Conducts visual, auditory, and somatosensory evoked potential response tests to measure latency of response to stimuli.

7) Writes technical reports summarizing test results to assist physician in diagnosis of brain disorders.

8) May perform other physiological tests, like electrocardiogram, electrooculogram, and ambulatory electroencephalogram.

9) May perform video monitoring of patients actions during test.

10) May monitor patient during surgery, using Eeg or evoked potential instrument.

11) May supervise other technologists be known as Chief Electroencephalographic Technologist ..
