Position Summary:

1) Inspects newly extruded green carbon electrodes to detect defects, like cracks blisters, and to define disposition of electrodes.

2) Notifies other personnel to investigate cause of defective electrodes.

3) Weighs measures dimensions of electrodes for defining if specifications are met, using scale, calipers and straightedge.

4) Marks disposition of electrodes on parts, using chalk, and records findings disposition of electrodes.

5) May compute density of electrodes, according to plant formula, using slide rule.

6) May inspect samples of graphitized electrodes or green carbon stock impregnated with pitch or linseed oil be designated Impregnation Inspector elec.

Minimum skills required:

  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Manage own time and the time of others.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, organization rules, and the democratic political process.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
