This job description (JD) describes the core job duties of director program occupation:

MAIN JOB ROLES (CAREER TASKS):

1) Plans programming for radio or television stations or network.

2) Determines type, length and time of each program, including commercial announcements newscasts, and entertainment programs.

3) Evaluates programming available from distributors, syndicators and independent producers to recommend acquisitions for broadcast.

4) Confers with Producer 159.117-010 Director, Television 159.067-014 or Director, Radio 159.167-014 to solve production or casting problems.

5) May establish work schedules for Announcers 159.147-010, audition hire talent, and negotiate contracts for spot commercial announcements.

6) May be known as Director, International Programs if programming for foreign broadcasts..

MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Manage own time and the time of others.
