Position Summary:

1) Directs and coordinates, through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities of workers engaged in testing finished and semifinished metal sample specimens to define if metallurgical physical properties meet manufacturing specifications.

2) Reviews production schedules to ascertain work load and prepares schedules priorities for work.

3) Assigns personnel to specific work assignments & reviews test reports for defining if physical characteristics of sample specimens meet metallurgical specifications quality control standards.

4) Investigates causes of defective material advises supervisory personnel of production department responsible of processing defects.

5) Determines disposition of substandard material, according to established precedent or practice or upon approval of superior, like downgrading, reprocessing, or scrapping material.

6) Advises metallurgical personnel on problems involving quality control and testing techniques and methods on application of metallurgical specifications to metal products..

Minimum skills required:

  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Manage own time and the time of others.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, organization rules, and the democratic political process.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
