Position Summary:

1) Repairs power transformers used in electric generating stations substations to step-up voltage of current being fed out over high-voltage power lines or to step-down voltage of incoming current prior to being fed to lower voltage distribution lines or electric equipment.

2) Drains filters transformer oil.

3) Loosens bolts to free transformer cover, laminations, coils and other internal external parts.

4) Signals Overhead Crane Operator any industry 921.663-010 to raise heavy transformer components subassemblies.

5) Dismantles lamination assembly preparatory to cleaning inspection.

6) Conveys defective coils to coworker for rewinding.

7) Climbs into transformer case, cleans inner surfaces with scrapers solvent, and examines case for defects, like cracked weldments.

8) Reassembles transformer, using new reconditioned parts as specified.

9) Operates pump to fill reassembled transformer with oil.

10) May work at site of transformer installation.

11) May wind replacement coil..
