Position Summary:

1) Repairs and maintains elevators, escalators, and dumb-waiters to meet safety regulations building codes, using handtools, power tools, test lamps, ammeters, voltmeters, and other testing devices.

2) Locates and determines causes of trouble in brakes, motors, switches and signal control systems, using test lamps, ammeters and voltmeters.

3) Disassembles defective units repairs or replaces parts, like locks, gears, cables, electric wiring and faulty safety devices, using handtools.

4) Installs push-button controls other devices to modernize elevators.

5) Lubricates bearings other parts to minimize friction..

Minimum skills required:

  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Manage own time and the time of others.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, organization rules, and the democratic political process.
