Position Summary:

1) Inspects automobiles trucks at state-operated inspection station to make sure compliance with state safety requirements.

2) Examines or tests specified components of vehicle, like brake system, tires, lighting system, directional signals, steering, horn and exhaust line for evidence of wear, damage, or improper adjustment.

3) Applies inspection sticker to vehicles that pass rejection sticker to those that do not.

4) May prepare records on condition of each vehicle for follow-up action by owner or police.

5) May perform duties of State-Highway Police Officer when not assigned to inspection detail.

6) May arrest or direct the arrest of vehicle owners having illegal equipment installed on vehicle.

7) May utilize mechanical, electronic, or electrical devices instruments to define condition of vehicle components..
