The subject construction production management deals with company and management of construction production at a construction site, from planning before construction starts to production control during the construction phase. It also deals with basic measurement techniques for construction production. The subject construction production management may only be arranged in further education in kind of a fourth technical year in upper secondary school.

The teaching of construction production management shall purpose at the students developing basic knowledge of how a construction site is organized and managed. Furthermore, the teaching should give students the chance to develop an understanding of connection among construction technology on one hand and company and leadership on other. The teaching must also contribute to students developing knowledge of how contract law is applied at the construction site.
The teaching should give students the chance to develop knowledge of how a construction site is organized when it is planned and established. It should also lead to students developing an understanding of a company's planning prior to begin of a construction project.
The teaching should give students the chance to develop knowledge of which actors are involved in making resources available. The teaching must also give students the chance to develop knowledge about applications and allows for establishment of a construction site. It should also lead to students developing knowledge about production control of construction phase plus about the planning and sub-processes that are handled at the construction site.
Students will be given the chance to work on projects concerned to planned and ongoing projects in construction companies.

Needed Career Skills

  • Knowledge of basic concepts of geodesy and of establishing and surveying of houses, roads and facilities. Knowledge of measurement methods regarding moisture, acoustics, air tightness and energy properties.
  • Ability to plan and organize measurement technical tasks in a construction project and to interpret and utilize technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of different documents used in construction process and of their connections to AMA system 'general material and job description'. Knowledge of drawings for construction and civil engineering projects.
