1) Fabricate boots and shoes for deformed feet according to prescription patients measurements
2) Study prescription to define degree of deformity type of correction to be built into shoe
3) Measure foot, using calipers, tape measure, rule and other measuring devices & instruments and applying knowledge of foot anatomy orthopedic shoe-making techniques
4) Discuss boot shoe styles available with customer to define customers desires
5) Make plaster cast of foot when exact measurements are required
6) Design paper patterns for shoe parts cuts out leather from pattern, using knives
7) Mark and punches out eyelets, and inserts clinches metal rings in holes, using eyelet riveter
8) Tack insole on last draws upper over last with pliers, tacking upper in place
9) Insert foam cushioning or arch support material, like steel, leather, or cork, under insole to support or cushion foot
10) Sews sole upper together, using sewing machine
11) Glue cork, leather, wood, or rubber material to build up extension of outer sole to specified height
12) Buff surface of sole curves sole upward to provide stable walking surface
13) May fabricate arch supports which can be inserted in regular shoes.
