2) Drive truck along track route and stops truck to inspect & test gate crossings, signals and signal equipment, like interlocks hotbox detectors

3) Inspect batteries to make sure that batteries are filled with battery water or for defining need for replacement

4) Test signal circuit connections, using standard electrical testing equipment

5) Replace defective wiring, broken lenses, or burned-out light bulbs

6) Clean lenses of lamps with cloths solvent

7) Lubricate moving parts on gate crossing mechanisms swinging signals

8) Inspect electrical units of railroad grade crossing gates to detect loose bolts, defective electrical connections parts

9) Tighten loose bolts, using wrench, and tests circuits and connections by opening closing gate

10) Compile reports indicating mileage or track inspected, repairs made, and equipment requiring replacement

11) May inspect mechanical gate crossings and repair defective cables on hand-operated gates and test air lines air cylinders on pneumatically operated gates.
