What is The Best Experience Letter Structure


Formally, a good work experience letter must be written on letterhead, with the employer's logo (if it has one); he must in all cases mention the company name, the name and surname of one or two people who can legally represent the company."


From the best practice, at least the following points are listed:

1. Employee surname, first name, and date of birth: the date of entry and the end date of the contractual relationship (if it's a final work certificate); the function for which the employee have been engaged.

2. Descriptive part: an exhaustive and synthetic enumeration of the main activities and responsibilities of the employee. Possible changes of function will be indicated succinctly in this part.

3. Employer's assessment of the quality of the employee benefits. This is a tricky point, since recruiters are particularly attentive to this part of the certificate. It should be as objective as possible. But it necessarily has a subjective component because it's a personal appreciation.

4. Another tricky part: the appreciation of employer on the employee general behavior within the company , the quality of the employee relations with colleagues and superiors, or even with customers or other business partners. In this domain as in the previous one, objectivity is relative ...

5. An important point, too often overlooked: it's here that it's indicated whether the employee has freely given a leave or whether it's the employer who dismissed the employee . This part also mentions the fact that the employee is free from any obligation towards the emploee former employer, subject to the duty of discretion concerning any business or other secrets that may be prejudicial to the interests of employer.

6. Signature of at least one person (usually two) who can legally represent the company, otherwise the content will only be binding on the signatories; the certificate could then be considered as a simple written "reference". The place and date of issue of the certificate are imperative (and not the end date of the work report, in case these two dates don't coincide). The work certificate must legally reflect the reality of the employment relationship and the nature of the work done by the employee concerned with his employer, as well as the assessments expressed.

It's specially by reading the last three parts described that the potential employer will evaluate whether this certificate is "good" or "bad".
