Recruitment is the process and result of recruiting. This verb refers to the enlistment of recruits and the meeting of people that is promoted with a certain purpose. For example: "The environmental organization continues with the recruitment of volunteers to carry out awareness campaigns", "The company is committed to the online recruitment of workers", "The recruitment of soldiers has intensified in recent years due to the hypotheses of conflict that the country has ".

What a recruitment implies, therefore, is an action that aims to get a series of people to join an entity or a cause. Once individuals are recruited, they become part of the organization in question.

Take the case of a shop located in a coastal city that, for the summer, decides to incorporate promoters to carry out advertising. For this, it recruits new employees: publishes a notice on an online portal and in a newspaper and summons those interested. Recruitment continues with interviews, the selection process, and finally the hiring of those who will join the staff.

The purpose of recruitment, in short, is the incorporation of the appropriate people for a certain event or a specific task. It's a procedure that begins with a call and continues with a "filter" so that those who join are the ideal individuals.

Recruitment can be carried out by a company, a non-governmental organization, or the armed forces, among other corporations.

This process has very different characteristics depending on the point of view from which it's analyzed. For an employer, when looking for new personnel brings a series of challenges to overcome that begin with the need that drives them to carry out the recruitment and the budget they have for hiring. These two factors are key to the planning and execution of the entire process, which is much more complex than what the public appreciates from the outside.

Depending on the case, the same company may proceed in different ways when looking for personnel. For example, while it's common to post advertisements in various media, such as newspapers and the Internet, summoning people with certain knowledge to fill the positions in question, it's also possible to ask current employees to speak with their friends and family to avoid or reinforce the publication.

This type of closer or intimate recruitment doesn't necessarily respond to a lack of budget, since it's also practiced by large companies; Far from saving money, it can be part of a strategy to drastically increase staff volume without the competition knowing long enough to do the same. Let's not forget that multinationals have interests that go far beyond offering quality products and services: part of their success is to outperform their competitors in every way possible.

From the perspective of a job seeker, recruiting represents a test of your abilities and your ability to convince employers of your potential to fill the position they are offering you. You also have to worry about your financial needs, although this isn't always the priority, depending on the type of job and the personality of the individual.

One of the key points in the recruitment process takes place when the employer asks the interviewee how much money they want to earn; Experience tells us that the best answer is always a slightly higher value than will ultimately be reflected in the pay, and that we should never speak of "needs" but rather of "objectives."
