A definition for the learning ability competence is the degree to which you are able to absorb new information and also apply it in daily practice. For the latter, motivation is of great importance.

The three elements of the learning ability competence are:

Familiarize yourself with knowledge

The ability to absorb new factual knowledge (learn). This can be done, for example, through a study, course, training, reading books or having conversations with other people.

This element depends on the intelligence of a person and is therefore difficult to develop.

Apply knowledge

The actual application of the knowledge that you have gained in daily situations.

This element can certainly be developed through practice. For this it's important that the third element of the learning ability competence is present.

Motivation

An important aspect of the learning ability competence is motivation. Are you open to learn from the experiences you gain? How do you respond to criticism?

Performance indicators for the learning ability competence:

  • Is always looking for new knowledge and skills;
  • Sees coherence and relationships;
  • Adheres to agreements made;
  • Works with structure.

Personal characteristics that are related to the competence of learning ability are:

  • Disciplined;
  • Structured;
  • Accuracy;
  • Fanatic;
  • Vigor.

Skills related to the learning ability competence are:

  • Analytical skills;
  • Concentration capacity;
  • Perseverance;
  • Logical thinking;
  • Curiosity.
