In the labor and business world, training is the set of didactic or teaching activities and improvement of work skills that are offered to the workers of an organization or company. They aim to expand your knowledge, skills, or abilities.

The different forms of training that exist point to various traits and skills necessary to meet the objectives of the organization. For the worker, they constitute a source of improvement, which allows him to aspire to job improvements or more sophisticated forms of work, which in turn can be translated, for example, into salary improvements.

From all points of view, it's a way to improve the human resources of any organization.

Training types

Training can be given in as many areas as skills or knowledge are required of the workers. It can be offered in a specific, massive, formal or informal, specific or continuous manner, depending on the training program that is implemented.

Thus, a specific training culminates once the new knowledge or skills have been imparted, while a continuous one doesn't present a predictable future end. A massive training involves many workers at the same time, while a specific one is given at the rate of one at a time.

Training objectives

The main objective of all forms of training is the transmission of new knowledge, the development of new skills or learning in the use of new tools.

Either way, they always involve the acquisition of knowledge that can then be put into practice, and are generally oriented towards the satisfaction of some goal of the organization, thus aspiring to enhance its human resources.

Importance of training

The importance of training within a company or organization should never be underestimated. The training of specialized personnel guarantees the performance of the tasks necessary for the organization to fulfill its tasks.

It's specially necessary in those cases in which the use of complex tools, dangerous devices or simply requires very specific knowledge that, otherwise, workers could not have.

For example, minimal training is essential for a worker in a steel plant to use a casting machine expertly, safely and productively. Otherwise, the worker would have to acquire knowledge through experience, putting himself and others at risk in the process.

In addition, in many cases, experience isn't enough, since there are factors that can only be appreciated in the long term but that must be taken into account in the daily task.

Training advantages

Companies that invest in staff training generally obtain short, medium and long-term benefits such as:

- Obtaining workers specialized in high precision work, high risk or handling complex tools, who will carry out the priority tasks of the company.
- Fostering the sense of belonging between the body of the workers and the company, also allowing job promotion and the opening of new positions, crucial for the growth of the organization.
- Increase in productivity and decrease in organizational losses, delays or "bottlenecks".
