Direction - Term Overview


First of all, direction is the action and effect of directing.

At the same time, the concept presents different meanings or variations of meaning according to its use, such as:

- Postal address: First of all, we can speak of address as domicile, that is, the place of residence of an individual. This would be the postal address.
- Addresses on the Internet: However, nowadays there are also other types of addresses, such as those used on the Internet to send emails ( email addresses ) and documents, in a virtual and not physical world. You also need an address or URL to access web pages.

Direction in companies

Management in the business world (management management) is understood as a process in which leaders or managers seek to influence their employees to achieve certain ends, in search of achieving the mission and vision. Three components are necessary for there to be direction:

- Circumstance: In other words, there is a precise moment in which a direction is required.
- Leader: That fulfills the role of directing people and projects,
- Directed: Who take the directions of their leaders.

Leader: He is the one who directs the team, he must have certain abilities to obtain the expected results. Some of these characteristics are objectivity, honesty, authenticity, commitment and integrity. However, it's very difficult to find true leaders who possess all the characteristics mentioned.

Why is the direction necessary?

There are several reasons why management within a company is of great importance.

- It's through the management that the objectives of the organization are communicated along with the way to achieve them.
- It also allows a common morale to be created in workers that allows for higher productivity.
- It determines in turn what behaviors are expected from the staff.
- Finally, it generates the communication that is required within the institution.

What is direction in geometry and in physics?

Other definitions of what direction is can be given under other disciplines:

- Geometry: A direction is a line on which the points move. The senses in which it can be traveled can be opposite.
- Physical: Direction is understood as the trajectory or path that bodies follow when they are in motion. This is of great importance since in mechanics it's required to study the movement to be able to know the position in which the body will be, always depending on the time variable.
