Delivery is called the delivery service offered by a business to deliver its products to the buyer's home.

In general, the establishments dedicated to preparing meals have a delivery service. The distribution is usually carried out by employees who travel by motorcycle or bicycle, although the delivery can also be carried out by car or even on foot.

For the customer to request delivery, the business must have some means of communication. For many years, the telephone was the most common contact method: the buyer called the place and an employee took note of the order. Then, the product was sent by the person responsible for delivery.

Currently the delivery can also be requested through the Internet. From a form on a website to an application on a mobile device, there are different digital tools that enable delivery requests.

Suppose that a young man who lives alone doesn't feel like cooking and makes the decision to order a pizza delivery. The boy enters the website of his favorite pizzeria and, through software, selects his menu: a large pizza with ham and tomato. The system informs you that, in half an hour, you will receive your order. After this period of time, an employee of the pizzeria arrives at his house by motorcycle with the pizza in question. The young man pays for his purchase, leaves the delivery manager a tip, and then goes to dinner.

While we are quite used to what some called "the culture of delivery", technological advances in the media and in robotics continue to open the doors to new ways of receiving our purchases without having to go out on the streets. First of all, there is the aforementioned list of possible communication channels for ordering: until the beginning of the 90s it was unthinkable to buy a pizza using the computer, but today it would be hard for us to believe that something cannot be purchased from it. mode.

In the film entitled La red, published in 1995 and starring the American actress Sandra Bullock, we see a young computer analyst who doesn't leave her computer even to order food at home, in scenes that even at that time seemed typical of an ideal future in many parts of the world. A few years later, almost all sectors of commerce began to bet on sales through the Internet, and this phenomenon was driven largely by companies such as eBay.

eBay is a site dedicated to the sale and auction of products, both new and second-hand, in almost every country in the world. It's one of the pioneers in this field, since it was founded in 1995, and offers three modes of transaction: the auction, in which the seller decides the starting price and the duration of the advertisement, throughout which potential buyers place their bids; "Buy it already!", an ad with a fixed price that accepts offers from interested users who don't have enough budget; classified ad, specially focused on local sales, with fewer options than the previous two.

Nowadays, eBay is synonymous with delivery, in that most of the transactions carried out by this means involve the shipment of the products by postal services.
