Assembler Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Assemble plumbing fixtures, like faucets, stoppers, and shower heads, using handtools power tools
  • Screw pipe fittings into grease traps, check valves and other plumbing fixtures, using pipe wrench or power wrench
  • Drill holes in fixtures for bolt attachments, using power drill
  • Fits parts together and secures parts with screws, bolts, or solder, using handtools flame solderer
  • May adjust valves other linkage to make sure free action of moving parts.

Enamel Drier Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Spray finish coat of enamel onto cast-iron sanitary units, like bathtubs and sinks bakes unit to provide permanent finish
  • Wheel units into furnace for preheating, using steel fork mounted on overhead conveyor
  • Observe color of unit through window in furnace for defining when desired temperature has been reached
  • Remove unit from furnace sprays powdered enamel over it, using pneumatic gun
  • Return unit to furnace to fuse and glaze enamel, repeating heating enameling process until unit is coated without discolorations, blisters, or pinholes.

Fittings Finisher Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Operate lathe to form lead plumbing fittings to specified shape diameter
  • Mount lead pipe over mandrel on lathe
  • Start lathe & presses special handtool against end of pipe, or turns handwheel to advance turret on which special tools are mounted to stretch bend pipe against rounded end of mandrel to form traps of various sizes
  • Reduce or expands diameter of lead pipe openings by holding tool against outside or inside surface of rotating pipe
  • Insert iron ring inside of expanded pipe or outside of reduced pipe
  • Roll edge of pipe end over ring to hold it in place
  • May solder brass ferrule over end of lead bend to seal junction
  • May heat threaded brass ring press reduced opening of pipe over ring to fuse them.

Fittings Tightener Occupation

Job Duties:
