Job Duties:

  • Push box of knit tubing from storage to machine, using handtruck
  • Turn screws on cams that control speed & motion of cutting blade feeding mechanism to cut tubing to specified length, using handtools
  • Thread end of tubing through guides feeder rollers, over spreader arms, and under cutting blade
  • Start machine that automatically cuts folds cuffs
  • Remove tray or box of cut folded cuffs from delivery end of machine
  • Replace dull cutting blades, using handtools.

Examiner Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Inspect gloves and mittens for material flaws variations in colors, and pulls seams to detect defective stitching
  • Grade gloves mittens according to specifications
  • Separate gloves with stitching defects for resewing
  • May pair gloves of same grade, size, style, and color, and stack gloves in lots
  • May pull threads from outside to inside with hook, knot threads, and cut them, using scissors [Puller-Through glove mit. ]
  • May pack gloves in boxes.

  • Guide parts under machine needle to join thumb pieces to back and palm, to assemble finger pieces join pieces to glove, to join sides of cuffs or cuff to glove, to stitch around fingers, thumb and sides of glove to close glove openings, to sew on knuckle strap or finger tips, to join parts of mittens, or to stitch knit linings to elastic wristbands to complete cuffs
  • May repair gloves with defective stitching & be designated Mender glove mit.
  • May be designated according to part sewn or operation performed as Closer glove and mit. , Fingerer glove and mit , Fourchette Sewer glove and mit , Knuckle-Strap Sewer glove & mit , Mitten Stitcher glove & mit , Palm-And-Back Forger glove mit
  • Strapper glove and mit , Thumb Sewer glove and mit , Tipper glove and mit , Wrist Closer glove & mit , Wrister glove & mit , Wrist Liner glove mit
  • Perform duties as described under Sewing-Machine Operator, Regular Equipment any industry Master Title.

Glove Turner Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Turn gloves mittens right-side-out
  • Pull thumb each finger of glove over turner tube, depresses pedal to lower rod that pushes tips of fingers into tube and pulls partially turned glove from tube
  • Pull thumb & each finger over shaped form punch-out stick to complete turning to push out finger tips
  • May pull turned glove over heated form to press glove [Glove Former glove and mit., laundry and rel. 363.687-010] and be designated Glove Turner-And-Former glove mit. .
