Annealer Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Tend gas or electric kiln to affix paint on glass

  • Turn knob to adjust depth of bore and rate of ascent descent at which drill bits enter glass
  • Measure and clamps guide rail stops on drill table according to specifications
  • Turn valve to start flow of coolant presses button to start electric motor
  • Position glass or mirror against stops on drill table

Job Duties:

  • Seam edges of glass, using belt sander
  • Select abrasive belt according to type of finish specified installs belt on pulleys of machine
  • Turn screw to tighten center belt on pulleys
  • Turn valve to start water spray on wet-belt machine or pushes switch to start exhaust on dry-belt machine
  • Hold glass edges against revolving belt to obtain finish
  • Place large glass on rollers or table for support while seaming
  • Feel edge of glass to verify smoothness
  • Wipe glass clean, using cloth, and places glass on skid.

  • Move switch levers to start suction pump & circle edging machine turns valve to start flow of water to edging wheels
  • Center workpiece on suction cup of edging machine depresses pedal to activate suction cup that locks workpiece into place
  • Raise foot-controlled lever to engage motorized edging wheels to edge of workpiece presses button to start revolving of workpiece against edging wheels to form pencil edge on workpiece
  • Observe pencil edging process to make sure specified dimensions to prevent breakage of workpiece caused by improper setting of motorized edging wheels
  • Turn bolts to loosen motors, using wrench, and slides motors on tracks to correct setting
  • Feel edge of mirror or glass to verify smoothness
  • Remove workpiece from suction cup when edging is complete places workpiece on rack.

Clip and hanger Attacher Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Attach clamps, clips, and hangers to precut fiberboard backing for mirrors, using handtools, power-driven tools, and riveting machine
  • Mark location of clamps, clips, or hangers, using tape measure, template and pencil
  • Drill holes at marked locations with electric hand drill
  • Attach clamps, clips, or hangers to backing, using pneumatic screwdriver
  • Attach support brackets to backing when mirrors are to be attached to furniture, using riveting machine handtools
  • Place gummed felt pads over exposed screwheads rivets to protect mirror finish
  • Glue hanging instruction labels to back
  • Stack completed mirror backs on pallet.

Colored liquid plastic Applier Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Apply colored liquid plastic to glass surface of installed windows and doors to reduce interior heat glare from sunlight, using spray gun
  • Fill spray reservoir with solution
  • Apply plastic coating to glass surfaces from top of window or door working downward to apply smooth, uniform coat
  • Position collection trough at bottom of coated surface to reclaim excess liquid.

Job Duties:

  • Tend automatic ceramic-decorating machine that prints single or multicolored pictures or designs on cylindrical glass or plastic containers
