Job Duties:

  • Operate barrel plating equipment to coat metal objects electrolytically with metal to build up, protect, or decorate surfaces
  • Place metal objects in mesh container immerses objects in cleaning solutions
  • Place objects in perforated or mesh barrel of plating equipment clamps door in barrel opening
  • Turn handle to lower barrel into plating solution to close electrical contacts

Job Duties:

  • Sets up and operates continuous multistrand electrogalvanizing heat-treating machine to coat steel strip or wire with zinc, according to written specifications
  • Mix chemical solutions, using formulas
  • Fill cleaning, pickling, galvanizing and waxing tanks
  • Charge furnace with gas or coal to prepare for galvanizing process
  • Insert wire reels feeds wire into machine
  • Move controls on rheostats generators to regulate movement of wire strand between reels, plating tanks, and coils, to obtain specified thickness of coating
  • Adjust controls to regulate temperature of leadpot, cleaners, picklers, and plating tanks

Electroplater Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Sets up controls plating equipment to coat metal objects electrolytically with chromium, copper, cadmium, or other metal to provide protective or decorative surfaces or to build up worn surfaces according to specifications
  • Read work order to define size and composition of object to be plated, type concentration & temperature of plating solution, type and thickness and location of specified plating metal, and amount of electrical current time required to complete plating process
  • Immerse object in cleaning rinsing baths [Metal-Cleaner, Immersion any industry ]
  • Suspend object, like part or mold, from cathode rod negative terminal immerses object in plating solution
  • Suspend stick or piece of plating metal from anode positive terminal immerses metal in plating solution
  • Move controls on rectifier to adjust flow of current through plating solution from anode to cathode to permit electrodeposition of metal on object
  • Remove plated object from solution at periodic intervals observes object to make sure conformance to specifications
  • Adjust voltage amperage based on observation
  • Examine object visually at end of process to define thickness of metal deposit or measures thickness, using instruments, such micrometers or calipers

  • Start equipment and regulates flow of electricity through plating solution immersion time of objects in solutions, according to specifications
  • Monitor automatic plating process to make sure conformance to standards
  • Adds water or other materials to maintain specified mixture level of cleaning, rinsing, and plating solutions

  • Carry workpieces between conveyors that move workpieces through electroplating processes
