Block Maker Occupation

Job Duties:

Job Duties:

  • Sets up and adjusts mixers, feeders, rollers, cutters, and other equipment to fabricate wallboard lath
  • Sets edging bars, rollers and scoring cutters for making sure that wallboard produced attains specified width thickness, using rules, gauges and handtools
  • Adjust paper guides, glue feeders, chamfering wheels and stenciling machine so that board edges will be smoothly sealed & markings legible evenly spaced
  • Regulate flow of material into mixing machine
  • Observe machine operations adjusts setup on basis of factors, like atmospheric conditions, slurry composition, and line-speed requirements
  • May test slurry for consistency, using scale by feeling it.

Board Mill Supervisor Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Supervise and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating equipment to mix plaster slurry, and to roll, perforate, mark, cut, and dry plaster wallboard lath
  • Direct workers in operation of equipment
  • Perform duties as described under Supervisor any industry Master Title.

Board Mixer Tender Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Tend equipment that mixes ingredients to produce slurry plaster mix feeds slurry into rollers for pressing into wallboard or lath
  • Regulate flow of stucco dry plaster mix , water and soap solution into mixing machine in specified proportions
  • Adjust glue feed for sealing board edges, using handtools
  • Observe flow of mix onto wallboard paper removes lumps from mix, using putty knife
  • Observe scoring and folding of paper for defects notifies Knife Operator concrete prod. of defects found
  • Test slurry samples for density, using measuring cup scale
  • Insert weighted needle into slurry times needle with stopwatch as it settles into slurry to define setting time of slurry.

Bucket Operator Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Operate track-mounted machine, equipped with traveling pouring bucket, to cast reinforced concrete pipe
  • Move lever to position bucket under hopper of cement buggy to receive cement
  • Pull levers & turns handwheels to move machine along track and to pour cement from bucket into rotating metal pipe can which acts as a mold remains as reinforcement
  • Observe interior of can withdraws bucket when concrete is level with lip of mold ring
  • Wash bucket, using water hose.

Cage Maker Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Cuts, forms, and welds wire mesh and reinforcing steel to fabricate cages used in reinforcing concrete pipe other concrete forms, according to blueprint or work order specifications
  • Obtain roll of wire mesh of specified gauge and unrolls stretches out mesh for cutting
  • Measure mesh with steel rule cuts strands, using hand or pneumatic cutter
  • Feed wire mesh into rollers of bending machine turns adjusting wheel to shape frame or cage sections
  • Place formed rods or mesh on floor or in special forming stand preparatory to welding
  • Tack-welds sections together, using arc-welding equipment
  • Cuts reinforcing steel, using cutting torch.

Cage Maker Machine Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Sets up operates machine to fabricate steel cages used for reinforcing concrete pipe
  • Bolt lagging plates of specified size to expandable mandrel of machine to form drum for shaping sizing cage
  • Thread wire from spindle through tensioning rollers feeder arm of machine
  • Tack-welds ends of wire to bell-end of lagging plate pulls lever to expand mandrel
  • Turn wheel on tensioner to regulate pressure on wire
  • Start mandrel rotating as wire is fed through tensioning rollers on carriage which moves along track to space wire as it winds
  • Tack-welds wire to end of drum on completion of run cuts wire with welding torch
  • Pull lever to move welding and grounding wheels into position to hold rod in place to form circuit for welding
  • Start welding wheel to weld rod wire at points of intersection
  • Break tack weld at ends of wire, using hammer and pulls lever to retract mandrel loosen cage
  • Pull cage from shaft by hand or aid of pneumatic winch.

Calciner Gypsum Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Control grinding mills, kettles, and conveyors to grind and dehydrate gypsum rock transfer gypsum to storage bins or pulverizing machine
  • Open storage bin gates to admit rock into grinding mill starts mill
  • Feel ground rock for defining consistency adjusts mill as required to obtain specified consistency
  • Open chute to allow ground rock to flow into kettle
  • Light fire under kettle
  • Read temperature gauge regulates fuel feed valve to maintain specified temperature inside kettle
  • Collect sample of calcined gypsum for laboratory analysis
  • Open chute after specified time turns air valve to force calcined gypsum into hot pits for cooling
  • Start bucket elevators conveyors to move gypsum from pits to storage bins or to ball mill for pulverizing
  • May operate rotary drier to dry gypsum rock before calcination.

Casting Supervisor Occupation

Job Duties:

  • Supervise and coordinates activities of workers engaged in casting concrete with granite, quartz, or vitreous porcelain to form structural panels, floor roof slabs, flower planters, highway dividers, and grave markers
  • Perform duties as described under Supervisor any industry Master Title.
