This job description describes core job duties of vector control assistant occupation.

Main Job Roles / Career Tasks:

1) Assists public health staff in activities concerned with identification, prevention, and control of vectors disease-carrying insects rodents .

2) Carries and sets up field equipment to be used in surveys of number type of vectors in area.

3) Sets traps & cuts through brush weeds to obtain specimens of vector population for use in laboratory tests, using sweep.

4) Prepares, mounts, and stores specimens, following instructions of supervisor.

5) Prepares reports of field surveys and laboratory tests based upon information obtained from personnel involved in specific activities, for use in planning and carrying out projects for prevention control of vectors..

Minimum Skills Required:

  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Manage own time and the time of others.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, organization rules, and the democratic political process.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
