This job description describes core job duties of electrical logging engineer occupation.

Main Job Roles / Career Tasks:

1) Measures resistance of earth formations to electrical charges, using electrical apparatus to obtain data for locating rock strata favorable to further petroleum exploration activities.

2) Transports electrical equipment and instruments to designated locations and directs & assists in laying out connecting cables, electrodes, instrument panels and other electrical equipment.

3) Adjusts electrical instruments to eliminate electrical interferences from earth currents or weather conditions.

4) Opens closes circuits to send electrical current through electrodes into earth.

5) Reads dials records data of millivoltmeter readings at various receptor points along cable to detect loss of potential due to resistance of earth formations.

6) Diagnoses cause of malfunctioning of instruments and cables makes repairs..

Minimum Skills Required:

  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Manage own time and the time of others.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, organization rules, and the democratic political process.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
