Category Manager Career Job Description Duties Example

This job description describes core job duties of category manager occupation.

Main Job Roles / Career Tasks:

1) Responsible for leading category management shopper insights initiatives with key strategic customers.

2) Provide thought leadership to stakeholders, including sales teams, marketing and at other levels of the customer.

3) Understand industry, consumer & category trends; translating those insights into actionable strategic business recommendations to achieve goals objectives.

4) Provide analysis and shopper insight driven recommendations against key business drivers, and leading presentations related to category business reviews, assortment and space optimization, promotion pricing effectiveness, and trade efficiency.

5) Leverage analytic tools to identify customer opportunities.

6) Develop collaborative partnerships with key strategic customers.

Minimum Skills Required:

  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Manage own time and the time of others.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, organization rules, and the democratic political process.
